******************************************************************

For the record I did some shopping on a friend’s card last night, so I used 40 + coupons.

6 pampers diapers RC @$5.99- $1.50 Doubled = $2.99 each

3 huggies diapers RC @$5.99- $1.50 Doubled = $2.99 each

The 6 packs of pampers equals 1 LARGE case from Sam’s/ BabiesRUs which average $40.  I bought the equivalent of 1 large case for $18.

This might not seem like much, but when the only place I used to buy diapers was Sam’s this is a huge savings.  Yes, I could use coupons and wait for sales at Babies R Us and use their diaper reward program.   But when I can get them for this cheap it is hard to compare.  Both plans require work to save money.  If I didn’t partially use cloth diapers the Babies RUs option would be easier b/c I wouldn’t have to wait so long between grocery/drug store sales and then buy like crazy!

6 v8 splash @ $1.50 each

3 Danactive @ $.50 each

3 activia @ $.50 each

6 Dannon Greek yogurt $.33 each

3 Kraft Dressing $.79 each

2 lemondae $1. each

2 eggrolls $.90 each I think

3 Zatarans $1.33

Helluva Good dip FREE

2 Wacky Noodles FREE

Lipton tea $.40

Beechnut baby meals $1. each

2 tuna $1.25 each

1 tuna FREE

***splurge olives from the olive bar****

these will go well in my Italian pasta salad using my FREE wacky mac noodles!

B/c I save in a few areas it allows me to round out our meals with nice extras!

FREE

Yeah, I didn’t get to many things for free tonight, but I got a lot of good deals, especially diapers.

I didn’t think I would ever find the Dentyne gum to go with my coupons.  Yeah, everyone else knew they were free!

***Side Note***

the only reason the dip was free was b/c one of Brad’s co-worker passes her coupons onto us.   Nothing unusual there, I also get coupons from another friend.

What does bug me is that often this co-worker get BETTER OR HIGHER DOLLAR COUPONS than I get in my paper.  Even my friend who lives 1 mile from me often gets different coupons or even different inserts.  I haven’t figured out if the co-worker gets her paper daily, but my friend only get Sunday delivery just like me.  Of course when I complained to News& Record they gave me some line that they are all the same…BLAH BLAH BLAH!  So I don’t know if this is a carrier issue or there is more randomness within the coupon fliers.  I know that different regions of the state/country get different coupons and values but really even within the same delivery area.  Anyway it  is very annoying!  I have 2 more coupons for helluva dip, but they are only $.50 off so the dip will be $.50 after sale and double coupon.  I know not bad, but it still isn’t FREE.

I am highly annoyed b/c my yearly rate went up over $20.  I am sure I will renew soon, but until I get around to it expect to see me getting it from other sources.

I have been thinking maybe I should get it from CVS and let my ECB/monopoly money pay for it.

I think I will check my receipts later for the exact number.

I went to the Taj Ma Teeter on Friendly and had in my mind what I was going to get.  And then as I am trolling through the store I remember that they don’t double the coupons if the say DO NOT DOUBLE  so that threw my plan out the window!  I think I did okay in the end.  I have been trying to get stuff that we need or will need in the NEAR future.  It is easy to get almost free cake mix or unlimited cheap hamburger helper, but how much of that do I really need.  (Trust me we are great on both of those for some time now!)

EVERYTHING ABOVE WAS FREE AFTER SALE OR SALE + QN

So So night.

Spent:  $82

Saved:  $100 or so

I’ll have to tally my receipts and add my exact numbers later.

Got a few things we needed like milk & cheese.  I splurged on the Butoni fresh pasta & alfredo.  It was BOGO on the pasta and 2/$6 on the sauce.  Yes, I know I could make my own alfredo for cheaper, but this is a most delicious meal for $10!  I will make some rolls and add a salad-from our garden and it will be a nice splurge!

I know the cheeries will get cheaper-at least I hope so!  But they are so good it is hard to pass up $2.48.  I also am trying to focus on buying more fresh & healthy stuff even if it is more expensive.

Had raincheck for BOGOF  NO YOLK egg noodles.  My coupons were about to expire so I had to get them tonight.  The store had an instant savings of buy 3 save $1.  I think I figured up after my BOGOF RC and 3x $.75 doubled to $1.50 each I paid somewhere around $1.60 for ALL SIX bags.  Aldi eat your heart out!

Mini Bagesl-BOGOF @ $3.99

English muffisns BOGOF

Nature’s Own BOGOF- had $.75 Q so it worked out to almost $1 a loaf.  I know I could have gotten 1 free, but since $1 is my goal for buying bread I decided to get both loaves and pay instead of getting 1 almost free and still needed bread for later in the week.  We go through 1-2 loaves a week depending on how often and who exactly is eating sandwiches for lunch.

Large bottles Dawn $.99

Most of the BBQ sauce was $.50…that sucks…if I had waited for Super Doubles some of it would have been FREE!  Oh Well!!!

Sponges BOGOF -$.75 off 2 q= $.75 each  that is a good price and the sale is going for another week.  I need to get some rainchecks for that just in case they don’t get them in b/4 the sale ends.

Milk $2.47  I don’t really pay much attention to the price of milk, b/c I have to buy it regardless.

Kraft Cheese Special  Buy 3 save $3 instantly.

Once per transaction.  (Note once per transaction, not once per day, or once per transaction… that leaves me feeling completely guiltless over doing these types of transactions numerous times. I did this 4 times.  Based on how much cheese we eat, I probably should have done it until I ran out of coupons!)

This worked wonderfully b/c I had a bunch of various Q I have been collecting.

I did this-2 Qn

1.  buy 2 Kraft cheese save $1.

I bought 2 blocks @ $1.69 each

2. save $1 on Kraft Deli Deluxe cheese- $4.49

So I bought 2 8oz blocks & 1 16 oz Deli Deluxe after $3 instant savings + $2 in above coupons each transaction was $2.97 for 3 packs of Kraft cheese.

Super Doubles start on Wednesday and I don’t know how much shopping I will be doing.  I am working hard to stay under $600 this month.  Sometimes the best way to save money is not to spend it…even when it is a smokin’ deal.  One thing I have started to notice is that smokin’ deals seem to come around every so often, so even if I miss a few there will always be more!

Okay all of those were free, but I spent $19 on all the food that didn’t make it in the picture!

3 packs hotdog rolls

cole slaw

2 cans bush’s baked beans

white grapes

& I am hoping I forgot a few things, b/c $19 seems like a lot to spend on those few items!

Walmart

Spent $17.

Saved:  $12

(More free wipes…no problems this time!)

I also bought a large bunch of bananas.  I was shocked after deciding what what birthday cake to make for Noah to discover that I had no plain vanilla canned frosting.  So we had to go to Walmart.  I didn’t have time to look for a sale or a coupon.  I know back to shopping like I would have this time last year.  That is okay the great thing about extreme couponing is that I have fewer NEEDS and don’t do this very often.

Spent $104.79

Pictured $65 or so

+$15 in air filters that come out of my grocery fund…I know sounds weird, but it was the only place I had extra money.

Saved:  $90, I had to guess.

I know I saved around $68 with my coupons alone so after guessing the original prices I am going to us that as my savings

The rest was a few sunscreen shirts for the boys and few baskets for friend’s baby gift and 2 air filters.

24 packs  Pampers Wipes FREE

Yep, I sorta cleared the shelf.  I don’t feel bad b/c Walmart knew there was a $2 coupon in circulation when they ran a “rollback sale”” $1.97.

The store seemed rather stocked when I got there.  If you are going to Walmart in Randleman you might want to wait a day or so!  There were a few left, but not a lot!!!

I also bought 10 bags Kingsford Charcoal $6.50 – $2 Qn= $4.50 a bag

Don’t worry there was PLENTY of charcoal left.  Brad told me a few months ago to keep my eyes open for charcoal sales & coupons.  We use a charcoal grill and grill out as often as possible during the supper.   This was a GREAT price for not being from Sam’s.

I triple checked that Walmart doesn’t have a limit on how many of the same coupons one can use.  Harris Teeter has a limit of 3 manufacturer & 2 internet coupons.

HT goal is to stop people like me from clearing the shelf.  Walmart however probably doesn’t have a real problem restocking so they don’t limit it.   Sorry if I offend anyone by being a shelf clearer…but I promise I only do it for a few items.  Also don’t worry I won’t beat you up for the last one as long as you get there b/4 me.  🙂

Bagels were on clearance $1.50 bag.  I bought strawberry cream cheese a few weeks ago, but totally forgot to buy bagels!  OOPS!!!

Milk…b/c I have 3 kids & a hubbie who could drink it all day!

Dish Detergent- I came home with this and Brad said, “I thought you were going to start making it.”  Appearantly the laundry soap has been such a success I need to branch out.  Maybe later when I have more time.  I only buy this every few months b/c I don’t have an automatic dishwasher.  I add a small squirt to burnt on messes and let it soak.  Stuff wipes right off.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I have a lot to say about couponing at Walmart.  Most of it isn’t nice.   Okay here is my saga cut & pasted from a thread I started at http://www.hotcouponworld.com

If you don’t want to read the drama…look away!!!

Okay, I have waded through most of the threads under the FAQ for Walmart. I read through their official policy. Tonight I went in armed with Pampers $2 off baby wipe coupons- 24 to be exact. Sale price $1.97
(Before flaming me I have several young ones and free wipes is a HUGE help. Also there were wipes left for others.)

I also bought 10 bags Kingsford Charcoal sale $6.50- $2. off Q, so $4.50 each.

I also bought a plenty of other items that I didn’t use coupons for.

So upon checking out the young cashier was very confused. Another cashier told her what to do. They counted and recounted and got everything entered. The cashier had finished and I had given her my cash and she had gotten my change out and was HANDING it and my receipt to me as the shift manager came over to finish the override. She told the cashier that I couldn’t buy all of that. She then proceeds to count every item and confirm I had met all the requirements. Of course there are people behind me!

Another hourly manager I guess is just as confused and saying he will back her up. They are reading the “one per purchase” line and stating I can only purchase one item…ie: 1 bag charcoal & 1 pack baby wipes. I tried to explain that one per purchase meant I couldn’t use any other coupons. 1 Coupon per item. (I think I was right about this.) I said that is fine I will be glad to ring each item up individually pay and then do the next. Of course they say they can’t let me do that. Be cause it says one per purchase. As in one per day. That isn’t what the coupon said!

We finally move over to customer service b/c I am leaving with my wipes & charcoal regardless of the hassle. So we go to customer service and several managers confer and I state my case that the walmartstores.com says there is a limit of 40 coupons and I only used 34 so what is the problem. At that point the manager told me I had to be CAREFUL b/c that site was for walmart.com not walmart stores. That was the coupon policy for the walmart.com shopping. I asked, “does walmart.com actually take coupons?” Of course he asks the hourly manager who stopped my sale with the cashier and she said, “no they don’t” I keep saying go look it up!

So they go look it up and find somewhere a list from March 2007 stating the 40 coupon limit, but no more than $50 off total purchase. I kept saying, “that isn’t what walmartstores.com says.” I even point out that it is dated March 2007 and that their paper could be out of date. Of course they didn’t like that! The assistant manager finally decides they can do the transaction JUST THIS ONCE. I was not happy with that answer, b/c they were doing the transaction and not b/c I was doing something wrong, but b/c I hadn’t violated their policy or proper coupon usage. He just kept sticking to the JUST THIS ONCE line.

Anyway, what is this they were talking about limiting savings to $50 regardless of whether you had exceeded the 40 coupon limit or not? I am just so confused. I don’t extreme coupon at Walmart normally. When stuff like this happens I am reminded why I rarely venture away from my grocery store & CVS! Since couponing my need to visit Walmart has fallen off. I now only go maybe once a month or so and usually for things I can’t get anywhere else.

Thanks for letting me vent. Please help me out. Was I wrong in how I read the “one per purchase”? Or was it just walmart not understanding coupons?

Okay, if you made it to the end, well you are wonderful!  Most of the people who responded to my thread said I was right and that Walmart is just messed up and often hard to deal with.  I called customer service and reported everyone in the situation, not to be mean or spiteful but I know lots of people who would have just backed down.  But when the assistant manager brought out the “just this one time”  line that was it.  He couldn’t tell me what I had done wrong and acted like I was doing something wrong or stealing from the store.  Anyway, I am waiting to hear something back.  I spent 45+ minutes from start of first check out to when I finally left customer service with all my stuff.

Vacation May 31-June 6 June 13, 2010

No, I didn’t take pictures of my groceries while on vacation…that would be a little weird don’t you think!!!

Anyway, just so I can keep track of how much grocery money I spent I am going to add up our few meals out and our trips to the grocery store and kind of guess??? I  am also going to guess about my savings.    We were having a real cash flow problem after spending nearly $900 at the vets for our dogs and then buying tires for our van.   Normally when we camp we would buy our food every day or so, but b/c we were in a real pinch we opted to take 85% of our food with us.  It worked out okay since we have such a huge stash in our “mini-grocery store.”

Spent not including eating out 4 times:  $100

(we spent money on other stuff we needed so this is just a guess as to how much we spent on FOOD.)

This money didn’t come specifically out of our normal grocery budget, so it will appear like we went way over when in fact this was from a different fund.  However, since one of my goals is to track our food budget.

Saved:  $  25 or so.  I filled out a customer care card at one grocery store in order to get the sale price!  I did also use coupons on a few things.
